Once you have emailed your teacher or coordinator on the Schools as Pals Page and have received confirmation and teamed up your school or project with another school, you can follow these steps to completing your CPAW collaborative classroom project.
01.
STAGE 1: GETTING TO KNOW YOUR school/group!

Invite your students to create a list of core questions that they would like to know about their teamed classroom/group. This can be done as a brainstorming activity in groups, or individually or as a whole class. (Demographics, culture, location, geography, etc.)

Once each class has their chosen list of core questions, email these to your team teacher.

Distribute the list received to your students. Have your students complete the questions and email the responses back to your team teacher.
02.
STAGE 2: MEETING YOUR GLOBAL PAL!

Set up either individual or group pals who will interact with each other. This can be done anonymously if needed - select fictitious names, codes or numbers.

Have your students create an "About Me" page in a word document.

Let them add any information they would like to share. They can include photographs if they choose.

Compile the class entries into one document and email this to your teamed teacher.

Teamed teachers may set up media of their choice to link to these classrooms.

CPAW administrator has set up an EDMODO site for teamed classrooms - contact the administrator for details.

Teachers can complete the project without identifying any personal information or actual photographs of the children if needed.

Please obtain any necessary permissions regarding student confidentiality (see statement below). Teachers who agree to participate must uphold this for their own country and context.
03.
STAGE 3: PROBLEM-SOLVING

In this stage each class will go through the steps of problem-solving to Identify children in need in their communities or elsewhere. This may need some research to find out agencies that could assist.

They will ask the question: In What Ways can we help ........... (these children in need)?

Have them define their purpose: Why are we doing this?

Have them: Brainstorm possible ideas

Develop criteria to judge which ideas are best

Choose the most effective idea

Develop a plan of action

Write up the plan of action and send this to your teamed teacher

Have your students comment on the plan of action with suggestions and ideas
Once the products have been completed and delivered, results will be posted on a new Tab entitled 2017 CREATIVE PRODUCTIVITY.
Confidentiality Agreement
Each Teacher who agrees to participate in the CPAW project must ensure that they obtain the necessary permissions from their school principal or administrators or parents to ensure that the identities and interests of their students are protected. The information should not be shared publicly in any form to third parties without the participating schools' permissions. Every country and school has their own systems for managing this. In the USA, schools need to uphold FERPA regulations. UCF, CEDHP, and CPAW and Project ELEVATE are not responsible for breeches of this regulation. Each collaborating school and teacher needs to clarify regulations covering their participation.
